About the Event
UniVsThreats CTF is an engaging cybersecurity competition organized by the West University of Timișoara (UVT), proudly entering its second edition!
Tailored specifically for university students and high schoolers, this competition is your chance to dive into real-world challenges, sharpen your skills, and compete with like-minded peers in a thrilling environment.
This year’s edition is hybrid – join us on-site in Timișoara, or online from anywhere!

🏆 Prizes & Eligibility
💰 Prize Pool: €4000+
Note: All prizes will be awarded in RON, based on the exchange rate at the time of payment.
This CTF is open to everyone, but we’re placing a special spotlight on student competitors — both high school and university teams!
🧑💻 To be eligible for student category prizes, your team must have at least one member physically present on-site.
🎁 Prizes Will Be Awarded To:
- 🥇 Top 3 Teams in the High School Category
- 🥈 Top 3 Teams in the University/College Category
- 🏆 Best Overall Team, regardless of participant status or location
🏫 High School Category (on-site eligibility required)
- 🥇 1st Place: €800
- 🥈 2nd Place: €500
- 🥉 3rd Place: €300
✨ Bonus: Winners in the Top 3 High School teams will receive admission equivalency diplomas for each member — granting direct acceptance into UVT FMI!
🎓 University/College Category (on-site eligibility required)
- 🥇 1st Place: €800
- 🥈 2nd Place: €500
- 🥉 3rd Place: €300
🌍 Overall 1st Place – Open Category
- 🏆 Grand Prize: €800
- Open to all teams globally.
- No on-site presence required.
📌 Important Clarifications
🇷🇴 High School and University category prizes are available only to Romanian citizens.
🧑🎓 Mixed teams (containing both high schoolers and university students) will compete under the University category.
👩🏫 Middle school teams (grades 5–8) are eligible for High School prizes.
🧑💻 To qualify for student category prizes, your team must include at least one on-site participant.
🌐 The Overall 1st Place team can participate fully online, without any educational category requirement.
🍕 Food and beverages will be provided for all on-site participants.
🛋️ A chill room will be available for participants to relax or rest anytime during the event.
❌ Travel and accommodation costs are not covered.

🛠 Rules & Guidelines
👥 Team Structure
- Teams of up to 3 members.
- Mixed teams (high schoolers + university students) count as University teams.
- Middle schoolers (grades 5–8) are eligible as High School teams.
🧑💻 Participation
- Hybrid format: on-site and online.
- The Overall 1st Place team can be fully remote.
🏆 Prize Eligibility
- Romanian citizenship required for High School and University category prizes.
- At least one on-site member required for those prizes.
- No category restriction for Overall winner.
🚫 Fair Play Rules
- Cheating is strictly prohibited.
- No flag sharing between teams.
- No use of automated tools unless specifically allowed.
- No attacks against the competition infrastructure.
